Travel & Accommodations

Getting to Lake Tahoe

If you plan to fly – Reno, Nevada (RNO) – is the closest airport, approximately a 45-minute drive from the West Shore Café. Car rental service is available in Reno, as well as airport shuttles that will take you up to your accommodations. Sacramento airport (SAC) is a good second option, however travel time from the Sacramento airport will take you around 2 hours.

Public transportation options are minimal in the small towns that surround the lake, making a rental car a very helpful addition. Taxis and ride-services such as Uber do exist, although can be somewhat scarce at times.

Wedding Shuttle & Cabs

We are working on final transportation options for the wedding now, so please keep checking back! We do not want anyone to be operating a vehicle after having so much fun at our wedding! This is a small mountain town, and as such the police have very little to do except try and catch people that are driving tipsy. Please be careful!

We are planning to provide shuttle service to-and-from for guests staying at Tahoe Tavern, the Tahoe Marina Lodge, and Granlibakken hotels. If you would like to make a reservation at these places, their contact information is listed below. For those of you that desire alternative accommodations such as AirBnB’s or hotels not listed here, cab service can be arranged to and from the wedding.

Parking

For those of you that would like to drive to the wedding and will not be imbibing with us during the night of the reception, there is plenty of parking at the venue.

Accommodations

October in Lake Tahoe is considered the “shoulder season,” meaning that it is the time in-between the summer months and the winter ski season. Many kids are back in school and tourism slows a bit during that time. Because of this, the fall is one of the best times to visit Tahoe. But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t gorgeous! The weather stays warm and sunny during the day, with temperatures cooling down at night – making for beautiful fall weather.

There are an abundance of places to stay during this time, and we don’t anticipate anyone having trouble booking a place. We’ve provided drive times for your reference.

Here are our recommendations for where you should stay while visiting:
