Laura and Karl first met back in 2005 in Denver, Colorado. As fate would have it, they were both living in the same apartment complex downtown. The weekends were typically spent hanging out at the complex pool, BBQ-ing, cannon-balling, getting sunburnt, and basically pretending to still be in college. Karl was a whole 25 years old, with a “real” job (in Advertising) and had his “life together.” Laura was a young 22-year-old babe in complete post-college denial, and basically spending most of her time with friends at the pool, in-between trying to find her first job.
One fine Saturday afternoon Laura noticed a much older man at the pool. Karl and his friends were barbecuing when he approached Laura offering her some eggplant that he had just grilled. She was super impressed with his grilling skills, jokes, and cannon balls. That was enough to spark a good friendship, and they hung out occasionally over the next few months. Unfortunately for him, Laura had decided to move back to California to be closer to her family, and after she left they lost touch.
Fast forward to 2013 and they are both living in San Francisco! What are the odds! Karl and his brother were out on the town, showing their Aunt Kathy around San Francisco, and bar hopping around the Russian Hill neighborhood. It was on this night they ran into each other after 8 years! Laura noticed “Karl from Denver”, and couldn’t believe it was him, and that he was living in San Francisco as well. She knew that he had subconsciously followed her to San Francisco. They were both so excited that they had reconnected. Karl offered Laura a fireball shot at the bar, and their love story began.
